Ending the Season
The end of the year did not go
as planned. We did not get the job done against the Eagles. It was
a rough one to swallow because I know we were the better team, but
we did not play well enough to win. It was a great season for us
coming off of a Super Bowl victory, and now we head into the offseason
with added motivation to get back to the top--where we all feel like
we belong.
Personally, after the Philly
loss, I had to turn my attention to a trip to Hawaii. I still had
a Pro Bowl game to play. And it was a great time! Not only did I
get to play with and against the best football players in the world,
but also got to see everything Hawaii has to offer. My wife and I
were able to whale watch, deep sea fish and surf just to name a few
fun activities. I'm bummed that the Pro Bowl will not be in Hawaii
again next year, because it was a lot of fun. But it will return
and hopefully I can be fortunate enough to return as well.
To everyone that helped me along
the way this year, to everyone that cheered for the Giants and booed
for everyone else, and to all the people that supported my charity
Tucks R.U.S.H. for Literacy, I just want to thank you and let all
of you know you are appreciated!
God Bless and Go Giants

Vikings vs. Giants 12/28/08
This week we traveled to Minnesota
to take on the Vikings in the last game of the regular season. Having
clinched the #1 seed and 1st round bye, and home field advantage throughout
the playoffs the previous week, we were going to try to play our starters
for a limited amount of time and then let our reserves get some action.
Even without playing our starters for most of the game, we still had
a great opportunity to win. The Vikings made a 50 yard field goal to
win as time expired. Now our focus goes to defending our Super Bowl title.
With the bye week coming, we now have time to get rested and healthy.
I'm proud of what we have done this year as a team, but we still have
a lot of goals left to accomplish.
God Bless

Panthers vs Giants 12/21/08
Normally, when a person has the
flu and a viral bug, he doesn't show up for work until he feels better.
This is not the case when it comes to NFL players, so on Sunday night
it was my turn to fight my ailments and go out and simply do my job.
This game was for the NFC #1 seed and first round bye, and we had to
face one of the hottest teams in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers (11-3)
were a team with many stars on offense and defense, but this game would
be taken over by an unlikely hero. Derrick Ward had one of the best games
of his career. Ward had 15 carries for 215 yards and he was the reason
why we were able to beat the Panthers in overtime. Ward and Brandon Jacobs
combined for almost 300 yards rushing, and carried us to the #1 seed
and the NFC playoffs.

Giants vs. Cowboys 12/14/08
We experienced a tough loss to
the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Defensively, we fought hard against a team
with a lot of weapons. Our offense battled too, but we missed having
Brandon Jacobs run the ball; he completes our "earth, wind and fire" ground
attack. John Carney played a solid game and he capitalized on both of
our field goal opportunities. Personally, I recorded half a sack and
a safety. We have a big game coming up this Sunday against the Carolina
Panthers at home, and we're extremely focused on that game.

Eagles vs. Giants 12/07/08
On Sunday, we suffered our second
loss of the season at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles
haven't had the season that was expected, but they are still a good football
team, and they showed it on Sunday. It was a balanced attack that hurt
us in this game. Brian Westbrook headed the effort with over 100 yards
rushing, 70 yards receiving and 2 tds. The Eagles defense also played
great by holding our offense to only 7 points. So I give them just due,
because of the way they played. Personally, I had another sack to push
the season total to 12 1/2, which means more money will be donated to
my R.U.S.H for Literacy program.
So now as a team, we turn our
focus on to The Dallas Cowboys. This is a big game for both teams, and
I'm excited about this matchup of NFC powerhouses.

Redskins vs. Giants 11/30/08
This Sunday the New York Giants
traveled to Washington, D.C. to face the division rival Redskins. On
a rainy and windy day, we may have played our most complete game in all
areas. As a team, we had to face a Washington team that was playing in
honor of a fallen comrade in Sean Taylor. We had to match their emotion
from the very beginning of the game.
Our offense once again set the
tone early by driving their first possession in for a touchdown. Our
offensive line did a great job of protecting Eli Manning and opening
holes for our league leading rushing attack. Eli had one of his best
games of the year by throwing for over 300 yards. Our special teams was
again lead by John Carney, with 3 field goals and great kickoffs. In
addition, our kickoff coverage did a great job of stopping one of the
league's best return teams.
Defensively, we were able to
control the league leading rusher in Clinton Portis. Portis came into
this game averaging 109.6 yards a game. We were able to hold him to 11
carries for only 22 yards. We also sacked Jason Campbell 4 times, and
I was able to get 2 of those sacks along with 6 tackles. My performance
got me nominated for Defensive Player of the Week for the third time
this season. Hopefully we can take the momentum from this win and continue
our success as we strive to be the best team in the NFL again.

Cardinals vs. Giants 11/23/08
This week we returned to the
desert to face the high flying Arizona Cardinals. It was hard not to
reminisce about the Super Bowl, but we had to focus on the task at hand,
and that was to beat a team that had not lost a game at home all season.
But we were ready to take on this challenge.
This was another classic Giants
football game with all units on our team playing a huge part in the win.
The offense had to play without two of their stars in Brandon Jacobs
and Plaxico Burress, but that did not slow them down. Eli Manning still
lead our offense to 37 points against a very tough Cardinals defense.
Our defense did a great job of slowing down the NFL's leading passing
offense. Our goal in this game was to stop the run first, and we accomplished
this goal by allowing less than 30 total yards on the ground. Our secondary
also did a great job of confusing the Arizona QB and WR's, which allowed
our pass rush more time to rush. and it resulted in 15 hits on Kurt Warner
and two turnovers.
Our special teams unit might
be the biggest story of the day. Four field goals and 200 return yards
really went a long way in helping us win a very important divisional
game. Domenik Hixon was the main contributer with 180 of those return
yards.
Personally, I was able to get
a huge sack and cause a fumble that was recovered by Mathias Kiwanuka.
This pushed my sack total to 9.5 for the season, which is good for third
in the NFC. It also pushes my donation total for R.U.S.H. For Literacy
to $9500. Hopefully I can continue to have success, which will help me
raise an impressive amount of money for my charity.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Giants vs. Ravens 11/16/08
This
week we welcomed the Baltimore Ravens to Giants Stadium and the story
of the game was the Ravens' #1 rushing defense against the Giants' #1
rushing offense. Our offense won the battle. Our offensive line did a
great job of opening holes for our three backs (Jacobs, Ward, and Bradshaw)
the entire game. The combination of Earth, Wind, and Fire rushed for
over 200 yards. It was a dominating performance against a very good opponent.
The Ravens defense was rated #1 overall by the NFL, but our offense was
not intimidated by their previous success, and they showed that by doing
basically whatever they wanted to all game.
Our defense also had a pretty
good game as well. The Ravens came into Sunday's game with a lot of confidence
after four impressive wins in a row. Their running backs were averaging
almost 170 yards a game on the ground, and their rookie QB was showing
flashes of greatness. But our defense was able to take over the game
early by stopping the run and pressuring the QB. We basically took the
running backs out of the game and forced two interceptions with one being
returned for a touchdown by Aaron Ross.
As always with the Giants, this
was another team win. Every part of the team helped with the victory.
Our special teams had a solid game as well with great coverage and returns;
we also blocked a field goal. So another hard fought win for us as we
continue to grow and strive to be the best team in the NFL again.
God Bless

Giants vs. Eagles 11/09/08
Sunday was another classic game
with two rival teams fighting for 60 minutes to determine a winner. The
defending Super Bowl Champions took their show on the road to Philadelphia,
a very tough place to play, and won their 4th game in a row.
The game did not start the way
we planned. Eli Manning's pass was batted and intercepted on our first
drive of the game, and two plays later Philly was leading 7-0. But adversity
is something that we thrive on. As a team, we were able to take the Eagles
best shot and still win another road game. Games like these made us World
Champions last year--we fought to the end. If we are to win another Super
Bowl we will have to continue winning these types of games.
Personally, it was a tough game.
After having such a good game against the Cowboys, I was a focus for
the Eagles offensive line. It seemed like I was fighting through a double
team every play-- and not just me, our entire defensive line was doubled
for the majority of the game. That is a sign of respect that the opposing
team had for our unit.
Now we are 8-1 and considered
one of the best teams in the NFL. We have another tough team coming to
Giants Stadium. The Baltimore Ravens are a physical team and we will
have our hands full again.
Thanks to everyone that voted
for me last week. I won Defensive Player of the Week.
God Bless

Cowboys vs. Giants 11/2/08
This was a game that both teams
had circled on their respective schedules. The Cowboys-Giants rivalry
might be the biggest and best in the entire NFL, and it showed on Sunday
night. Our offense did a great job on starting the game fast by scoring
on the first drive of the game, and they didn't stop there. They went
on to score 35 points in the game. Our defense also played a phenomenal
game. Even though Dallas was without their starting quarterback Tony
Romo, they still had a very talented offense that included 6 Pro Bowlers.
Our defense only allowed 7 points and held the Cowboys under 200 total
yards of offense, which was a season low for Dallas. Personally, I was
able to have another solid game with 6 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. This
could have been our best game to date, but we don't have time to celebrate
because we have another tough game coming up in Philly. We play the Eagles
in Philadelphia on Sunday night, and it is always hard playing there...especially
at night. I'm looking forward to another big challenge.
God Bless

Steelers vs. Giants 10/26/08
Many so-called experts considered
our game against the Pittsburgh Steelers a preview of the upcoming Super
Bowl. They might be right after the thriller that took place on Sunday. After
getting off to a slow start, both offensively and defensively, we were
able to rebound and go into halftime with a lead. In the second
half, our defense was able to stop their running game and get pressure
on Ben Roethlisberger. We sacked Big Ben 5 times and forced 4 interceptions.
The offense was able to move the ball all game against the NFL's #1 rated
defense and in the fourth quarter Eli Manning hooked up with Kevin Boss
for the go ahead touchdown. From there Pittsburgh had two positions to
try and tie the game. The Giant defense was able to force an interception
and we also stopped the Steelers on 4th down to end the game. Personally,
I was able to contribute 5 tackles and 1 sack. The sack pushes
my season total to 6 and my R.U.S.H. donation total to $6000. Next week
we face the Dallas Cowboys. Let's GO Giants!!!
God Bless!!

Diary Entry: 49ers vs Giants 10/19/08
It was good to be back in Giants
Stadium on Sunday. After suffering the first loss of the season
at the hands of the Browns, we were able to come out and get back on
track against San Francisco. The winning formula was simple--we
started by playing great defense. We had three turnovers and six sacks. We
also held one of the NFL’s leading rushers to a career low 11 total
yards. Our offense had a pretty successful day as well, with almost 300
total yards and no turnovers. Also, our special teams did a good
job of giving our offense solid field position and helping our defense
by pinning the 49ers deep in their own territory. Personally, I
was able to get back in the groove with two sacks and two forced fumbles.
The sacks push my total to five on the year. Now we move on to
another tough opponent in the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm looking forward
to this challenge!

Diary Entry: Browns vs Giants 10/13/08
This was a tough one. We ran
into what I like to call a buzzsaw. The Cleveland Browns, a team that
was not very impressive in past weeks, came out and played a great game
on Monday night in front of a rowdy home crowd. We were not able to get
into a groove all night. The Browns did a great job of stopping our high
powered offense and keeping our talented defense off balance. I have
to give them credit, they had a good game plan for us and they executed
the plan. Luckily for the Giants, we have a short week, and the wait
to play again will be short. I did not play well on Monday, and I'm eager
to step up this week and play better. We have a very talented San Francisco
49ers team coming to Giants Stadium on Sunday, and this gives us the
opportunity to get back on the winning track. Go Giants and God Bless.

Diary Entry: Giants/Seahawks 10/5/08
The Giants are 4-0 now and it
feels good! The Giants don't have a great record when it comes to winning
the game after our bye-week, so getting the win on Sunday was a big accomplishment
for us. We used the bye-week to prepare for the Seahawks and our hard
work paid off. Our offense played outstanding football. Our defense also
played a solid game, allowing only six points. The defense also recorded
two sacks and an interception. Not getting a sack was frustrating for
me because I hit the quarterback seven times! I was not feeling well
during the game and threw up on the sideline twice, but it was important
to get to the quarterback and not allow him time to execute. It was also
important for us to stop the run, which we did. The Seahawks averaged
around 160 running yards per game, we held them to just 74 yards on the
ground. We are now looking forward to our next game. We have a big
game in Cleveland on Monday night so we want to go out, give another
great performance and get another win.

Diary Entry: Bengals @ Giants 9/19/08
It felt great to get another
win at home in the third week of the season, especially since it was
a long and hard fought game. Even though most NFL fans expected
the Bengals to lay down, we knew they would put up a challenge. I
think we showed great resolve on both offense and defense, and a well-balanced
attack on both fronts ultimately led to our victory. On defense,
we equaled our sacks against the Rams, and consistency will continue
to build our confidence as a unit. But it was the calm, cool and
collective approach by our offense that was able to get it done, especially
after the Bengals lead at the half and went on to send the game into
overtime. And thank John Carney for his great feet!
While our top rivals around the
league were hoping for an upset, we were able to pull out the “W” and
get to 3-0. Now we are heading into the bye week with a full head
of steam, and looking forward to jumping back into the season after getting
some rest and will ready for the long haul.

Diary Entry: Giants/Rams 9/14/08
The first road game of the season
went very well for us in St.Louis. All of America wanted to see how we
were going to play, especially after the success we had on the road last
season. As a team we were able to get off to a great start with our offense
scoring a touchdown on the first drive. Eli Manning and our offense was
able to pretty much do what they wanted scoring 34 points. Again, I think
the offensive success allowed the defense and special teams to play loose
and relaxed, and it benefited us greatly. Special Teams did a great job
of giving the offense great field position all game and also helped the
defense by not allowing a long return. Defensively we had six sacks,
one interception and a touchdown. We were able to shut down an explosive
offense by playing great team defense. Personally, I had one
of my best games as a Giant with 3 tackles, 2 sacks, one interception
and a touchdown.
Next week is another great challenge.
The Cincinnati Bengals come to Giants stadium looking to turn their season
around after starting 0-2. This is familiar to us because we started
the same way last year. It will take another great team effort to stay
undefeated.
God Bless

Diary Entry: Giants/Redskins 9-4-08
Thursday
night was really exciting. With everyone still high on our World Championship,
Michael Strahan kicked off the pre-game festivities and pumped up the
crowd. Giants stadium was the loudest I've ever heard it, and as players
we really fed off of the fans energy. The offense dominated from the
first drive and the defense used that momentum to force Washington into
several 3 and out situations. Week to week there are always things to
work on and we are always trying to get better but we're pleased with
how we started our season in our stadium - on a personal note, getting
a sack on the first play of our first game was rewarding, especially
since I, along with several sponsors, have pledged $1,000 for every sack
I get to my foundation, -Tuck's R.U.S.H. for Literacy. For more information
